He can't win in Ukraine with Europe assisting Kyiv.
He can't withdraw from Ukraine, because the moment he does that Ukraine will join NATO making it impossible for Russia to go back in.

NATO should defend Ukraine as if it were a member. Enough with the abstract – what's happening in now, in the real world, necessitates it. If not, it's only a matter of time that NATO is directly at war with Russia. The instant the war is over, make it official. NATO is much stronger with Ukraine.
