Remember, “Antifa” isn’t an organization. It literally just means you’re against fascism. So he’s saying that if you’re against his obvious and blatant fascism, you’re a domestic terrorist.

Despite the chilly weather, more than 150 people gathered for Coffee Outside to honour Dr. Darren Markland. We shared coffee, stories, and quiet moments, celebrating the life of an incredible person who touched so many lives.

Thank you to everyone who came out. ❤️

Darren had an exceptional talent for egging people on, and convincing ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

His greatest trick was convincing everyone that he was just an ordinary guy too. And he wasn't. He was exceptional.

Join @yegbike.bsky.social tomorrow at Ezio park, 7-9.

Dr Markland was the heartbeat of Friday’s @coffeeoutside.bsky.social in Edmonton.
Here’s a few of my favorite photos from over the years.
You made us all better humans for knowing you. RIP
The bane of my ride home from downtown in my Capitol Hill days.
I used a Minoura BH-60 (made in Japan) to mount a Fauna cargo cage (made in Vancouver) to my Brompton (made in London). I’ll be using this setup to tour Holland this summer with my partner (made in Amsterdam).

Oh … and a new chain tensioner too.
Yep. I remember that kind of dumbassery well.
Highlight of the week so far: sunny rides in South Surrey, a new ZP6 coffee grinder from Rogue Wave in Edmonton, and a ride out to Langley (Murrayville) and back on some nice bike infra. #surreybc #cityofsurrey #cityofparks #bikeyvr #cyclevancouver #thesupplelife #brodiebikes #langley #ilovecoffee

After a night on Bowman Island, I grabbed a ferry to Horseshoe Bay, then rode my bike home through Van, Richmond, and Delta to Ocean Park. A great way to celebrate #GoByBike Week. #disctrucker #surlydisctrucker #surlybikes #surreybc #cityofsurrey #bikeyvr #cyclevancouver #letsgobiking #gobybikebc

Sounds like a great trip. You can totally do Vancouver Island (and the Gulf Islands) without a car. Cheaper, less hassle, more fun.
If you need someone to ride with you, let me know :)
Another option is to head south through Van to Richmond and take the Garden City cycle track to Westminster Hwy (which is partly paint lane and mostly separated infra) to the Alex Fraser Bridge, then take either of the Delta options, mentioned above.
Coming from downtown Van, I take the BC Parkway or Central Valley Greenway to the Queensborough and Alex Fraser bridges, then 1) head SW on River Rd and through Delta to the Causeway or 2) take the Delta Greenway south to the Mud Bay Dyke trail (longer, but scenic!).
