3/3: We are happy to work with the government in moving past those barriers.

Building KXL means there must also be product to move through it.

2/3: PM Carney should know that the Official Opposition will support him if he gets this crucial project moving.

Major projects will proceed more smoothly with private sector investors if we first get rid of anti-development laws like C-69, C-48, the production cap and the industrial carbon tax.

1/3: Conservatives are pleased to hear President Trump and Mark Carney are open to reconsidering KXL.

It's been delayed a long time since the Harper administration approved it in 2010, so it might be hard to resuscitate, but talking is the first step.

1/2: Knocking on doors with Marina Ortman, candidate for City Council in Ward 9.

She's a great choice to serve on council. Self-employed, community-engaged, focused on fixing the problems she's encountered at City Hall, including her success in keeping our public pool open in Inglewood.

Tonight begins the weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur and celebrates the gathering of the harvest. It also commemorates the miraculous protection G‑d provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. Chag Sameach!

4/4: It is entirely possible to craft legislation that targets law breakers without constraining Canadians who are lawfully going about their business.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
3/4:
- Focus on law breakers;
- Restore order at the border;
- Block or remove fraudulent refugees;
- Allow Canadians to send mail, use the internet and do lawful cash transactions; the bill should focus on preventing and apprehending UNLAWFUL transactions.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
2/4: There are some useful elements in C-2 that would help secure our borders, but those measures come packaged with provisions that would violate individual privacy.

We ask that the intrusive measures be removed, and a bill be presented that would:

1/4: Conservatives have announced that we will not be voting for Bill C-2 (the Strong Borders Act) UNLESS Liberals remove the violations of Canadians’ individual freedoms and privacy.

One can't help but notice the long-time, mutually-admiring relationship between Mr. Carney & Mr. Guzman. That doesn't mean Guzman isn't a competent banker, but he has no expertise in the complex world of defence procurement. He is likely to have a learning curve that could actually delay purchases.

Apparently some will be transferred, but one wonders if they couldn't get the job done before, what will make them more effective now? They will likely bring the baggage of old systems and attitudes with them. I've also seen enough of govt to KNOW that new agencies will quickly find ways to grow.

4/4: We urge all Members of the House, including the Liberals, to vote for this common sense adjustment to how bail is granted in Canada.

#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #jailnotbail
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
3/4: C-242 would repeal the “principle of restraint,” strengthen bail for major violent and organized crimes like extortion and home invasion, require judges to consider an accused’s criminal history, and stop prolific offenders from vouching for other criminals.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
2/4: ... at the "earliest opportunity, under the least onerous conditions".

This catch-and-release policy has resulted in numerous heinous crimes being committed by offenders out on bail, often repeat offenses that could have been prevented.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
1/4: Tomorrow the Conservatives will use our Opposition Day to encourage passage of the "Jail Not Bail" Act.

Canadians are increasingly worried about safety on the streets, but the Liberals' Bill C-75 explicitly instructs judges to release offenders ...

4/4: Will these new agencies be more efficient than current public servants?

Or be another layer of red tape?

Only time will tell, but adding more employees and hierarchies is an odd way to streamline and fast-track government deliverables.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
3/4: Recall that in his request for funds to Parliament in May, Carney estimated a 6% increase in the cost of the public service, and 36% increase in outside consultants.

The new agency will be led by former Royal Bank Deputy Chair Doug Guzman, who has no track record with defence procurement.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
2/4: Each new agency, intended to do a job current public servants are already tasked with, comes with set up costs and disruptions, new salaries, administrative burden, office costs, and other expenses.

Bureaucracies are very good at expanding themselves.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
1/4: Prime Minister Carney has now created a third new bureaucracy - the Defense Investment Agency (the first two are for housing and major projects).

3/3: This shows a complete disregard for other peoples' money.

The govt just keeps spending money, boosting the deficit & racking up debt.

The PM's "solution" is that he intends to change the way numbers are reported.

#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #CanadaEconomy #Budget2025
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
2/3: Budgets are important documents. They represent choices. They represent priorities & respect for other people's money.

There have been no priorities revealed for this fiscal year, now more than half behind us. Nobody knows what the govt's priorities & choices are this year.
gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social
1/3: From last night in the House:

It is October 1, 2025. The govt's fiscal year is April 1 to March 31. We are now seven months into the fiscal year without having a budget telling Canadians how government is going to choose what it is spending money on this year.
