Conservative Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre; elected 2019; re-elected 2021 & 2025. Focus on energy, environment, economy. Love the mountains, hiking and biking, and music. Zero tolerance for profanity in posts.
1/2: The House will rise today or tomorrow to allow for six weeks of constituency-based work, and a few days of rest for the holidays. We return to Ottawa January 26.

Before leaving Ottawa, I recorded my annual Christmas message which will be posted December 24 and 25.

1/2: I participated in the Canada-Kosovo Friendship Group meeting with the Ambassador of Kosovo, Adriatik Kryeziu. Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008 and 101 UN states recognize it as an independent state, although Serbia still considers it a province.

1/2: I attended the Open House for the Inn From the Cold. The Inn helps families find shelter - an estimated 3,000 Calgarians without a home are part of a family, with children under 18 making up 60% of that number. On any given night, it is estimated that 200 families are without shelter.

1/3: I am pleased to be one of the seconders for Bill C-234, from Ziad Aboultaif MP (Edm Manning), which began debate in Nov.

4,700 individuals await life-saving organ transplants, with most relying on living donors—selfless individuals who donate all or part of an organ to save another’s life.

1/2: I co-hosted the Canadian Alliance of Student Association representatives during their Ottawa advocacy days, including University of Alberta student President Pedro Almeida, University of Calgary student President Naomie Bakana, and Mount Royal University student President Tala Abu Hayyaneh.

Recently spoke with the Petroleum Joint Venture Association about Canada’s energy future. We discussed demand trends, fiscal realities, and why clear policies matter for responsible development and economic stability. Great exchange with industry leaders on what’s next for energy security.

I recently attended the Grand Opening of Art Café on 11 St SW in Calgary—a great new spot for creativity and community! Also had a great chat with Harrison from Calgary Tourism about showcasing our city. #Calgary #LocalBusiness #Tourism #YYCCentre

Honoured to join Calgarians today at the Jubilee Auditorium, the Cenotaph, and the Royal Canadian Legion to mark #RemembranceDay. This year we reflect on 80 years since WWII ended and Calgary’s proud military legacy. #LestWeForget. #CalgaryCentre

1/2: I co-sponsored a meeting in Ottawa -- along with Leslie Church, a Toronto MP - of 'Canada Powered by Women'. They bring a great perspective on the importance of energy to our economy for women across Canada.

🧵1/6: Last week, PM Mark Carney told a room of students that they will have to "sacrifice", for "some time", as he rejigs the economy.

I've been saying since the day I got elected that Liberal out of control spending, and resultant deficits & debt, will be carried by our children & grandchildren.

🧵 1/6: This week, the Auditor-General reported on the service levels of the Canada Revenue Agency.

If you've ever needed help, the following facts won't surprise you:

🧵1/5: On Monday, Conservatives will call for an emergency debate on the crisis in Canada's auto industry.

This matters to AB. The auto industry purchases $30 Billion/yr in inputs from across Canada, including petrochemical products (plastics), specialized equipment, & engineering services from AB.

I visited Rob Barrow, Pres of Eco-Pro Services. Propane is low carbon, clean-burning energy that emits virtually no air pollutants, & is safely transported & used. Rob & team gave me excellent primer on this fuel that is rising in popularity and applications.

🧵1/5: It is worth reminding Canadians - and the federal government - that provinces do not have a veto over inter-provincial pipelines, like the one proposed by the Alberta government.

1/3: Conservatives are pleased to hear President Trump and Mark Carney are open to reconsidering KXL.

It's been delayed a long time since the Harper administration approved it in 2010, so it might be hard to resuscitate, but talking is the first step.
October 9, 2025 at 7:05 PM
1/2: Knocking on doors with Marina Ortman, candidate for City Council in Ward 9.

She's a great choice to serve on council. Self-employed, community-engaged, focused on fixing the problems she's encountered at City Hall, including her success in keeping our public pool open in Inglewood.
