Conservative Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre; elected 2019; re-elected 2021 & 2025. Focus on energy, environment, economy. Love the mountains, hiking and biking, and music. Zero tolerance for profanity in posts.
3/3: There are some services the embassy/consulate can offer (e.g. replace a lost passport, assist you to obtain resources in an emergency) & services they can't (get you out of jail, seek preferential treatment with local authorities or immigration, pay your expenses).

2/3: You should also register on the GAC website so that Canada knows your whereabouts in case of an emergency.

Note the embassy/consulate coordinates in your destination country & also the consular emergency number (also posted on my web page under the Get in Touch tab).

Conservatives who abstained were Shannon Stubbs (in hospital after surgery, not physically able to vote); & Matt Jeneroux (had already announced resignation so considered voting unethical). Two NDP (Gord Johns & Lori Idlout) abstained, Ms. May voted yes; for 170-168. The votes weren't coordinated.

Our job as Opposition is to keep spotlight on govt promises. We can't table legislation or initiate the process. Only option is to pressure them to do it. We have limited tools. House debate is one tool. If issue falls out of the public discourse, it is too easy to renege or amend their promise.

We amended motion when Libs objected some words were missing. They still voted no. One doesn't expect this govt to agree to anything Oppo proposes, but our job is to keep the spotlight on their promise. We have limited tools to do that. This is an important promise. We'll keep pressing for delivery.

Keeping responsibly sourced oil & gas in the ground won't reduce global emissions. In fact, the opposite. Countries still need & buy oil & LNG (many still use coal!). If Canada won't sell, they'll buy elsewhere: Russia, Iraq, Nigeria, Angola ... where environmental & human standards are much lower.

2/2: This will only happen - let alone "build at extraordinary speed" as the PM promised - if the government's leadership is determined to get started now and get it done expeditiously.

They voted against the motion. We need to see their commitment.

3/3: Some Liberals have publicly said this pipeline will not happen.

All we are asking is some clarity about the government's intent to follow through.

2/3: The motion uses words identical to the MoU. There is no reason that Liberals should vote against the exact words their Leader signed.

Yet several Liberals are waffling. The Minister said "necessary conditions but not sufficient conditions". What does that mean? It sounds like doublespeak.

2/2: Canada officially recognized Kosovo in March 2008, and established full diplomatic relations in April 2009.

I submitted a response to the Herald, but they have chosen not to publish my answer, so I have posted it on my website: gregmcleanmp.ca/cuts-hurt-ve.... I invite Ms. Ford to accompany me when I meet with orgs striving to help veterans; & invite her to aim her criticism at cuts by this Liberal govt.

Yes it is. There are things the govt could do. Disciplined spending would help reduce inflation. Eliminating the industrial carbon tax would assist in lowering input and transport costs for food production/delivery/sale. Some things can't be controlled, it is true, but govt should do what it can.

Don't understand the question. We do not support this budget. How did we "hold him up"?

If enraging Trump is a productive strategy for successfully negotiating with him, then Mr. Carney has found the answer. Let us measure Carney's judgement on this matter by his outcomes. So far, no outcomes to put in the "win" column.
