I like Stewart Lee’s story about being unable to buy a ticket for an near-empty bus he had boarded because you could only buy tickets online, but the bus was late, so according to the company’s “AI” system, the bus was not in fact there, but several miles ahead, so buying a ticket was not possible…

🚲 📺 Genius packaging
Expensive bikes frequently get bashed in transit.
The solution? You could spend lots of money on stronger boxes. But VanMoof worked out if you package them like TVs, people are far more careful. Damage rates 📉
Fascinating to see others copy VanMoof

It's not the biggest issue today, but this statement should be given in Parliament.

This isn't fuddy-duddyism. It allows MPs to ask questions, puts other parties on the record, and, most importantly, doesn't allow a PM to pick the audience: a power that Starmer does not abuse, but future PMs will.

Big tech isn't always obsessed with monetisation. Sometimes it thinks about demonetisation too.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Thousands left without water in the middle of winter in the UK. And those same people are now facing a massive bill hike.

Privatised water is a scam.

I've written to the Prime Minister asking why he won't end this rip off and bring failing South East Water into public hands.
