Holy shit, cleared max dif. AND got second highest rank you can get without having to get all As. Beyond the Grave rank is absolutely doable if I grind out routes and good times to hit poses and hit Demolition Shots (afaik they add to style meter) but I'm pretty satisfied for now.

Will never stop shilling these. First one is a bit crap as a shooter, but it was already stylish as fuck, taking some influences from Heat, Collateral, Hard Boiled, and many others. Only really falls apart when they start doing Xbox 360 shit in Cuba.

Ok at Stage 4 of Gungrave on "Kick Ass" now and this is starting to feel like "the real game starts here. You no longer can fall back on using your "bombs" to restore health, but enemies MELT you hard, especially the sort of elite machinegunner dudes.

Finished TCM4, kinda sucked overall. It feels like they tried to do two things at once, so you get a half-assed parody of TCM and half-assed genuine sequel to TCM that has one fun idea with some secret horror Illuminati, but does nothing with it.

It's not surprising, but it is ironic that people who are concerned with high standards and refined taste usually come off as morons who don't *have* much of a taste at all. With standards that typically come down to some sort of vague combination of high budget and following "good" conventions.

Gonna get back to TCM with "The Return of Texas Chainsaw Massacre" today. I don't watch too many horror franchises, only really got into these types of movies thanks to brief DbD addiction, but TCM is probably the highest on the slop meter so far.

This line from Video Games (Apr 83) was too prescient. One of the more frustrating things to me about the state of video game preservation is what feels like a general lack of interest in pre-'80s games; I will never stop banging the drum about the importance of '70s games (especially Death Race).

Finished Hard clear, got a better overall rating too. Probably could've gotten better if I remembered to heal at the end (iirc that works for remaining life?) and remembered to do more poses. Gonna try for Kick Ass clear tomorrow.
