En route pour la présentation de la nouvelle traduction de _Beowulf_ par Wilfrid Rotgé. 🤩 Voyage sans ordinateur, avec seulement de quoi lire et écrire. Possible que je surestime largement le temps de trajet vu mon programme de lecture pour préparer une proposition de communication pour un colloque.
Tablette de train ouigo sur laquelle repose le Beowulf traduit par Wilfrid Rotgé et la tablette à encre électronique protégée par un étui en cuir de champignon représentant un petit renard devant des arbres bleus, sous une nuit étoilée.

I hand over an invisible ‘Tree Of The Day’ award to the most charismatic tree I see on each of my walks. Here are just a few past winners of this esteemed but still largely unknown prize.
An angry man with branch hands pretending to be two conjoined Sycamore trees. A tree on Exmoor which has some fucking stories to tell even though it doesn't go around shouting about it. A tree on Dartmoor which, though old, is still quite cheeky, and likes using its branches to sneakily tickle cattle, ponies and people when they pass it. A tree which is so endlessly proud of the village where it lives that it stands constantly at the edge of it, constantly welcoming everyone who arrives, with a wave and a smile.

L' #ESR subit actuellement un gigantesque plan social dont personne ne parle hors des intéressés. Les seniors partent, les postes de titulaires sont gelés, blanchis et ne seront pourvus qu'au compte-goutte sur de longues années . Beaucoup seront supprimés.

Le fait est qu'il y aura de moins en moins de postes de titulaires et de financements : on assiste à un démantèlement à bas bruit de l'ESR, les jeunes chercheuses et chercheurs précaires deviendront vieilles et vieux, la titularisation ne viendra pas.

From a transcript of a faculty meeting discussing this:

Faculty are being told to not teach on gender and sexuality at all, regardless of their field, and the Dean isn’t even sure if the faculty *can accept papers from students that discuss these topics*.
FACULTY: But if a student were to take a research topic that they wanted to research... and they wanted to address something that doesn't fit into the binary composition, are we to tell them, 'you may not write on this topic?' Or are we to treat it just like any other topic, because we didn't bring it up and we're not talking about it in class? DEAN: Good question. You were not allowed to discuss that, nor allow that in the classroom setting. Period. FACULTY: So a student could not submit a paper about a research topic about transgender? DEAN: As part of the curriculum setting; correct. FACULTY: So they cannot submit that paper, and we vould have to tell them ' vou need to do a diftereni paper.' DEAN: That second part I don't know about, but ! need to get back to you.
