Why Costco is worth the $U65/year subscription. 30 rolls of Charmin at Costco - US$32.99. Same 30 rolls at Amazon: US$44.00. Don't bother with the produce - stick to the other stuff. Jamesons for example.

Today, we remember the fourteen young women whose lives were stolen at Polytechnique Montréal 36 years ago.

Their names are a solemn reminder of the devastating toll of gender-based violence — and the responsibility that comes with our remembrance.

For a happy relief from the overall horrors of the news, I'm going to sit out on the back patio and continue reading Tim Snyder's Bloodlands. After that, I may switch to The Roberts Commission Report, in honour of Pearl Harbor Day. guides.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/c.php?g=1352...

Take a look at The Globe and Mail comments on the Royal assent to the 'Lost Canadians' bill. Or even uglier, comments on the report that Frank Gehry, who lost his Cdn citizenship when he & his family moved to the US in 1947, was re-awarded Cdn citizenship by PM Jean Chretien. Jealousy & bigotry.

ICE/HSI is out of control in Tucson this morning. Raids down Grande near Barrio Hollywood. Dozens of community members showed out to support. Masked agents with blacked out plates deployed smokes and shoved and pepper-sprayed Rep. Adelita Grijalva and her staff after they ID’d themselves.

I have now (since 9am) completed making 2 pies (mincemeat & peach, Utah peaches I jarred in June), 2 loaves of bread, roasted a chicken and made 8 damn good calzones, stuffed with pepperoni, with dough containing grated cheese & tomato flakes. At some point, I intend to eat portions of it. Or not.

Yep. In the current 'media climate' that little problem doesn't come up very often. Next up, SCOTUS will permit arguments 'on the merits' on that pesky 19th Amendment - using the long-revered 'oopsies argument'.
looking forward to either a 6-3 decision that trump as God Emperor of the United States can change the constitution by fiat or a 5-4 decision that 14th amendment means what it says with a dissent from thomas that actually the constitution recognizes donald j. trump as sovereign
