June 27, 2023. The day we brought her home from the hospital after a 3 day stay. She couldn’t breathe or walk. We thought we’d lose her. They worked a miracle and got her back home. That’s our daughter hugging her while we all cried tears of joy. This has been pinned over there since that day 🐾❤️

Ok, one more of our favorites. Many lunches & dinner’s at Sam’s. Yet another iconic place. Many times we sat in those curtained off booths. They focus on seafood, and after all these years they’re still going strong.

I worked a couple blocks up the street from Tadich. It’s the iconic of iconic San Francisco restaurants. It opened in 1849 and is one of the oldest restaurant in California. Great food and drinks.

"Anthony Bourdain once described Red’s as a “wonderful, old school, high fat, high protein, beer for breakfast kind of a place,” adding, “any time you begin to doubt the wonderfulness of San Francisco, really, all you gotta do is come here.”"

Last one of the night. One of our favorites that opened in 1947. Great food, and a fun place to go.

Another one of our favorites that opened in 1949 and still going strong! Good luck getting a reservation on short notice. I once had to hand the hostess a few bucks so she’d seat us (we didn’t have a reservation) on a Tuesday, in March.

The original Original Joes. Very old school place opened in 1917 in what later became the worst part of San Francisco. It was common knowledge (and obvious from the clientele you’d see there) that it was protected by the mob. No one bothered the customers. Ever.

FB memories: the second (and final) time I walked Sava over to watch some baseball. A sad reminder that our neighboring state college-save for club lacrosse-no longer has any athletics.

Carole King in Union Square San Francisco for an album cover July 1972.⁣

My wife picked up a couple pints from Pilar (the woman who makes the ice cream). She told my wife “I was about to stop making this until your husband made a couple very heartfelt comments on FB about how it took him back to his childhood. Now requests are off the charts!” ❤️❤️

Once again, our favorite ramen place isn’t just about ramen:

SLICED HAMACHI SASHIMI is accompanied by meticulously peeled cara caras, Pioneer's microcilantro, razor-thin jalapeno panes, smoked shoyu ponzu, deeply aromatic rayu oil & our togarashi spice blend🔑

The people that need their own Super Bowl halftime show are the same people who needed their own water fountains.

🎯
Kid Rock was really the best they could get for their alternate halftime show? That’s the most talented MAGA performer?

FB food memories: back when I was making Buckboard Bacon. It’s bacon made from pork butt instead of belly. Pictured is my Frank’s Hot Sauce Buckboard. I added extra cayenne and red pepper flakes to the curing concoction to raise the heat a bit. Great stuff.

We never go to Super Bowl parties despite the yearly invites. No thanks. We just want to watch the game, and not hear about your recent colonoscopy. So every year we get Old Chicago Pizza. A place we’ve been going to since we were kids. And tomorrow will be the same.

The Pacific Heights Spreckels mansion in San Francisco circa 1930’s. When I lived in PH it was about 3 streets down, and was owned by writer Danielle Steele. The property encompasses an entire city block. It’s impressive but I prefer the old Presidio officer housing.

I stopped by my favorite local shop today. All of the eggs they sell are from county ranches. That’s the most expensive flat.

For whatever reason, I can find most of their other flavors, but I rarely see the lemon ones. So when I do (like today) I buy some. A tad pricier than most other cookies, but I sure do love them.

Our friend Augie’s dad in the backseat. Augie showed me a bunch of pics from when they shot Bullitt. In the big chase scene his dad was on the passenger seat floorboards shooting McQueen as they raced through the city. Crazy stuff.

FB food memories: Yes, I make my own pita/pocket bread. Hot out of the oven with a touch of butter, or better yet some homemade hummus on hand to dip it into, well that’s just food heaven IMHO.

FB food memories (my daughter requested it): Whipped up some creamy tomato soup to go along with sourdough/Brie/diced bacon & smoked Gouda sandwiches.
