Just a husband, father and U.S. Navy veteran in wine country trying to navigate through life...

June 27, 2023. The day we brought her home from the hospital after a 3 day stay. She couldn’t breathe or walk. We thought we’d lose her. They worked a miracle and got her back home. That’s our daughter hugging her while we all cried tears of joy. This has been pinned over there since that day 🐾❤️
Same. Way back in my Navy days during deployments. Loved them. Titus and Michael Connelly are very engaging on Twitter. I’ve tagged them both multiple times. Always willing to respond, answer questions.

Thank you! It’s been an adjustment period. Our daughter is her favorite human, and now our daughter is away at college. She sleeps on her bed looking out the window just waiting. Thankfully spring break is in 5 weeks. She will be one happy pup!

Exactly! The night I took this we sat out by our fire pit, had the Bose speaker going, just chilling.

FB food memories: every so often this (and a bottle, or two of local wines) is simply called dinner.

About 2/3 of the way through Bosch. I
Mentioned to my wife that Irving plays a cop investigating Edgar who plays a drug kingpin. She said let’s watch that next!!

50 year anniversary. 300k+ people. The only time that the curve of the bridge flattened, and it came to light a few years later that bridge engineers were fearful that the bridge could’ve collapsed.

Yeah, kind of surprising! Must be damn good turkey!
February 13, 2026 at 4:58 AM
300k people at once. Yikes.
February 13, 2026 at 4:20 AM
Also, little known fact: the (I believe) 50th anniversary when they shut the bridge down for people to walk on it, was the only time that curve in the bridge flattened. A few years later bridge officials admitted that there was some fear that the bridge might collapse.

I wondered that myself. I’ve done plenty of fishing, but never surf fishing. Watched plenty of folks surf fish in Santa Cruz, but never asked what they were catching.

Indeed! I was born in the Bay Area, lived & worked in the city a few times, crossed the GGB probably a thousand times, and I’m still in awe every time. My ship took part in Fleet Week twice. Cruising under the GGB were some of my Navy highlights.

Totally get it! I’m the same way. Hence why I turned down the invite to go with my wife to the top of the north tower. No thanks.

That’s how you know it’s a good spot when they run out of stuff. Looks like a phenomenal platter of food! Makes me want to watch Chef’s Table: BBQ again.

Very! I saw another pic of it during construction. Those massive twisted support cables had to be assembled in place. The engineers knew they could never assemble them on the ground. They’d be too heavy to lift into place.

FB food memories: our daughter took AP French all 4 years of high school. Her junior year they were each tasked with making something “French,” so she chose a lemon tart. Guess who actually made it 🤣

Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach 1936.

Our friend Kim would also bring her little one, Skittles, to our get togethers. Skittles didn’t give a shit about the Shepherds or the ball. All she cared about was inspecting any possible gopher hole 🤣

When Sava (red harness) was little we’d get together with a German Shepherd group. We still see a couple of them that live locally. They also all went through weekly training together. Every Saturday over in Napa with a police K-9 instructor.

That’s the thing, though. If the bridge lost all helm control, there’s always a qualified helmsman on the backup rear steerage with direct comms to the bridge. We almost ran aground at Ford Island, but that was because my starboard bearing taker was walking down the wrong nav aid. Skipper saved us

Btw, I somehow forgot to add this pic that I took for you.
February 12, 2026 at 11:44 PM
Now I gotta do a google search for that.

I just saw the video of that unrep collision. That DDG skipper is screwed. They didn’t even have lines across when it happened. It happened when the DDG made its approach. That’s a simple maneuver. You match speed and get into place.

I guess we’ve been naive to that happening elsewhere. The whole college thing is new to us given that Jackie is just a freshman. We were shocked when SSU lost their entire athletic department.

Yes! Such an iconic moment!
