yesterday and today are the first days that finally feel like fall around here (middle TN).
Its rough to go to fall festivals and try to "live seasonally" when the climate where you live is still in the 90s.
This morning we saw high 40s low 50s and it was glorious

one of my favorite things to do is look at regional or community self published cookbooks.
I especially like noting when there's 2 or more of the same recipe done slightly different and they're titled
Edna's Butter Cake
Sally's Butter Cake
and
Izzy's Butter Cake
because I then wonder...

350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes or until the cake is just starting to turn golden

birthday cake is a classic

vanilla hot milk cake
Beat 4 eggs 7-10 minutes until super frothy
add 2 cups each flour and sugar
a teaspoon of vanilla
and I add just the smallest pinch of nutmeg
add 1 cup of hot milk with 2 tabelspoons of butter melted in it
then add a teaspoon of baking powder

Good morning
Its my kid's birthday today so I just got cinnamon rolls in the oven
and I'll be busy most of the morning working on his birthday cake.
Later we go to my in-laws who are doing dinner and presents with him.

Could have even started Countdown on Oct 31 and just had all 24 new movies, 3/week, Fri-Sat-Sun. CHERRY LANE sequels for 6 PM Fri-Sun Thanks week double feature.

Reality Mondays. Series Thursdays. And, promote heck out of TWELVE DATES 'TIL CHRISTMAS Thanksgiving Day debut.

Still surprised TWELVE DATES 'TIL CHRISTMAS not getting splashier/earlier roll out. Hallmark holiday ratings usually highest Nov 15-Dec 15, peaking near Thanksgiving. While DATES launches in latter half of range (12/5), doesn't finish until 12/19, very late in season, with only 2 weeks to build buzz

To be fair...Autumn on Apple Hill is AMAZING
and...I don't care about football or birding...so it wasn't as much of a lure as apple picking and traditional hometown halloween...even if I do like the actors.

With one weekend to go before Christmas movies kick in, Hallmark's last non-holiday title, HOME TURF, earned 1.074M live + same day viewers. Up just slightly from last week's numbers, but still down 58% year over year, when AUTUMN AT APPLE HILL had 1.7M, which is…extremely not good.

turning out really well

Feeling better than I did yesterday but still sick so trying to take it easy today

Dinner is chicken, white beans, salsa, whatever veg I find in the fridge, cream cheese, bone broth, and a bunch of spices tossed in the crockpot. Will serve over rice.
