I read some of the motions that were voted on at the Conservative convention in Calgary. Some were disturbing and illustrate how American are their views. i know party members are more extreme than supporters but voters might vote for them not knowing all of what is in their platform.

Exactly as you here from the U.S. People who don't know the difference between Socialism and Communism. Many very successful European democracies identify themselves as Democratic Socialists.
The very fact that PP thinks that "socialist" is an insult and that "communism" describes what Carney is doing shows how little he thinks his own supporters can understand.
