40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion
this was my first thought too & then the replies were all about jesus and i was like oh right

Trying to figure out what #SCOTUS just did with #SNAP, and why Justice Jackson temporarily froze the district court's ruling?

Via "One First," me on what's going on—and why I think Jackson's move was savvy, notwithstanding the awful circumstances that forced it:

190. SNAP WTF?
A very quick explainer on what (and why) Justice Jackson issued an "administrative stay" in the SNAP case late on Friday night, and on what's likely to happen next

so hell bent on starving people that he runs to his SCOTUS stooges for legal cover. Imagine trying THIS HARD to deny food to hungry families, including 16 million children!
"a continuing resolution doesn't give Trump MORE money, it just gives him a blank check"
Rep. Andy Harris: "A continuing resolution doesn't increase spending, but it also gives the administration the ability to tweak funding. Those Biden-era programs that aren't very favorable like USAID obviously are subject to rescission." (Yeah, that's the whole problem!)

Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

Pal, I appreciate the input, but the fact is that I Iive in ME-02, in a town that Trump won in 2024 two to one

Even here, the mood on Trump has been souring enormously

We don't need Jared Golden. That's a lie that people tell themselves to avoid holding electeds like Jared Golden accountable
right and this attitude is almost certainly going to be the reason we lose ME-02 next year and potentially blow TX sen

I don't think that helps us, actually
JARED GOLDEN ISNT SEEKING REELECTION FOR ME-02

HELL YEAH! I went to a statewide Maine Indivisible convening a few weeks ago, and defeating this was the top priority from the group.
RESULT: Maine voters reject Question 1, a ballot measure that would have implemented a barrage of new voting restrictions, especially for mail voting.
