CDC applies “individual-based decision-making” for vaccinations. Sounds a lot like our “informed advising” experiment where students were informed about prerequisite classes but could choose to ignore them and sign up for whatever they wanted. (Spoiler: it didn’t work very well.)

By an artist named Watergazer who was once on FA. I think this one came before the other abacus picture I posted two weeks ago. I may be running out of education or math inspired artwork soon, not enough to make it through the whole semester! Maybe time to dig up cash for more art.

The best time I had at a con was when a friend of mine brought several drums, a tambourine or two, coffee cans and a cowbell and a group of seven of us, some friends and some strangers, just played percussion together for an hour or two. I guess that’s what kids call vibing nowadays.

If I made the Linear Algebra test too easy, then I made the Differential Equations test too hard. Yikes. Tough slog over the weekend going through two classes' tests and seeing all kinds of crazy things. Do your homework! It helps.

Nobody’s asked for it but my take on Charlie Kirk is that he was his generation’s Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter or Ben Shapiro. Interpret that any way you’d like. And don’t forget that Turning Point USA was originally founded for targeting educators for harassment, not evangelism.

Done by Rusty-Soup-Can on FA (don't know if they're here too). Perhaps a distant ancestor who was more into alchemy than math. A little inspiration was taken from the Skeksis (Dark Crystal). I have this printed on a badge for cons.

Ancient basilisk uses a compass to add to a figure by candlelight with an abacus nearby.

In any case, I'd agree that as their teacher I should not be their adversary, though sometimes they immediately see me that way.

An old picture done by someone I knew on LiveJournal. I remember he was studying Paleontology and lived in the UK.

Before I took on the more heraldic look, my character was a lot more reptilian and ran around on six legs. The metamorphosis corresponds roughly to meeting my spouse.

Maybe it’s schools going back in session. A lot of activity comes from folks in that age range. Without that extra little bit of lubricant, things suddenly grind to a halt.

Starting week three of classes. I haven’t used a chalkboard in years and I can’t say I miss them very much. My college upgraded to marker boards right before I started working there. That dust does get everywhere.
