Saw a comment on Facebook about “parents’ rights” in regards to using children’s parent-given names rather than their preferred names in school. The thing I think this type of person fundamentally misunderstands is that children aren’t owned by their parents. They’re people.

A thing I also don't see people talk about when it comes to this take is that if the states did break up we would likely instantly go to war with each other
The problem with the "break up the US and let red states do their own thing" take I keep seeing is that a plurality of Black Americans live in red states. Trans people live in red states. Indigenous people live in red states. Disabled people live in red states.
