Hi everyone! I'm Hazel Brown, lead hair artist at Roarty Digital!
I was a character artist for 5 years before I switched to specialising in hair and I love it!

Happy to share my most recent XGen groom since full grooms are sorely lacking in my portfolio! Slowly coming round to enjoying the xgen process

Check it out on artstation:

Been working here and there on a full XGen groom since I don't have many in my personal folio. Almost there just needs a proper breakup and detail pass (and also a better render scene)

Ahh yes you're right 😭 I'm usually pretty good at clocking this shit but its getting harder. I guess a good rule of thumb is if you have to ask then it probably is 🙃

Is this image AI??? I can't find the origin in reverse image search but any 'tells' in the style look like they can be somewhat justified.. I'm so sick of ai all over pinterest, man

A quick hairstyle made over a few days to test some maya issues I was having (now resolved yippie!)

Kept it pretty low poly coming in at 20k tris.

Yeah a pixie with a bit of a mullet at the back!

Noodling with a lil hairdo, originally started to stress test some issues I was having in maya but obv now I gotta commit to finishing it

If you bought my tutorial I've just uploaded some additional optimised meshes and some elaboration on the optimisation part of the tutorial so be sure to go back and download that!

Currently editing this together, was hoping to finish this weekend but that was naive! Hopefully within the next few days 🤞

Hair is coming up close to final! Losing patience with it so really having to push on those final details 😅
hazelbrown.bsky.social
I won't talk too much about it since its pretty simple but I will be including all of the source files so you'll be able to open up the marmoset scene and have a mess around with it :D

I get super hyperfixated when I’m working on a piece, especially a tutorial, so it’s really hard not to stay up all night to try and get it done 😭

Its nice to look back and see visible improvements from my last tutorial too! Feel a little more justified calling this one 'advanced' 😉

Good progress for a weekend! This is being recorded for my next video tutorial. I'm intending it to be a more 'advanced' version of my previous one. Much more concise and getting into the nitty gritty of the techniques I use so that you can hopefully push and elevate your own work to the next level🙏
