Just got done with our hearing. We have another status hearing next month with a trial date (hopefully) in the spring.
It’s more important than ever to stand strong against ICE and with the people protesting it.

extremely worried that i'll be 60 (if I survive as a trans person in this society) and we'll be living in a society that constantly tries to recreate what we had instead of making something that actually works this time.
And on top of that, I know the heart of liberals. I have survived among both them and conservatives for a long time.

the same is true for ICE. most people want a militarized, roving band of cops to quietly disappear the "illegals" that they deem dangerous. what they don't like is feeling like they're also at risk. it doesn't matter that they're only 2 or 3 generations removed from being the target population.

i think a lot of well meaning people underestimate how many people actually like, trust, and want to keep funding a militarized police force. the "aversion" to the word "abolish" is that people want to keep cops around.

Democrats can and must make it clear there will be trials and anyone even somewhat associated with ICE will face them. Maybe give a quit-your-job deadline on appeasement and give people 72 hours. I don't know. But currently the plan is to let them murder us in the street and get away with it.
