It's pretty safe to disregard any critique of a movie if it uses the words boring or slow.

A long time ago on Thanksgivings, WBCN and WFNX played only acoustic versions of their usual playlist. BCN more classic and FNX alternative. It was the best while driving across Massachusetts switching between stations.

A couple days ago, while driving through the Berkshires, I was critically listening to the first run of masters for my new solo album, Almost Always Overwhelmed. A light snow on a grey day. It's good to listen in a car but maybe not while your ears keep not-popping while going up and down mountains.

I've lived in Massachusetts for my whole life. That's a lot of winters. You'd think I'd be used to them by now. In the past I think I was, but this year, this winter... I'm having trouble accepting it.

When A.I. has stormed out and walked home alone from a high school party on a cold night in a not-warm-enough jacket and kicked a bottle off the sidewalk while glaring at the moon through the bare winter branches because even the moon doesn't understand it, then I might listen to one of its songs.

I don't like this. Since I was a kid collecting wheatstocks and 1943 steals, I've held a sort of connection with the penny. Years later while touring and recording with Polaris, I was given the name Penny Polaris. It's sad to see them go. The only coin of color. Copper little moons.

We're sending out three of my solo CDs today to fulfill orders made on the label website. It's always a great day when I know that some of my albums are out there in the back of a mail truck traveling across the country to somebody's mailbox. Thanks!
