My main exposure to writing in 40k being Rogue Trader, FFG games and Gaunt's Ghost has probably have colored my opinion of 40k somewhat.

Both Warhammers are some of my favorite settings for TTRPGs tho

CGI is actually quite expensive. Pretty sure at least as expensive as using practical effects or sets.

Just cause it looked kinda ass didn't mean it didn't cost a shitload of money.

Cause they don't understand anything, because they haven't actually engaged with the thing. They hate for surface level reasons.
The most scathing and seething hatred for a piece of media is from a fan who thinks what they enjoyed turned to shit.

I think it's actually a very short list.
Not because the Imperium or whoever could actually beat anyone, but simply because of the sheer size and scale of the 40k Universe.

Among SciFi settings it's one of the most, maybe the most populated one.

And then there's the moral bankruptcy.
