If Trump issued an executive order today canceling the 2026 election, it would still happen. The president has no involvement in the running of elections, which is done by states.
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

Aside from anything else, the Peace Prize is pretty meaningless if its carefully selected recipient is willing to literally barter it to a tyrant in exchange for political power
people will say “he will not literally post on truth social that this lady runs venezuela now after she gives him the physical nobel peace prize” and I am here to tell you that is absolutely in play and is in fact a likely outcome
I thought Trump would never get the Nobel Peace Prize. He's about to prove me wrong!

The scale of the protests in Iran are absolutely unbelievable. Hard to quantify, but I've seen some speculation that this uprising is more significant than the 2023 protests (themselves the largest challenge to the regime since it came into power in '79.)
