In response to recent news of the University of Nottingham's devastating plan to cut modern languages degrees, the AGS President (@pdavies.bsky.social) has sent a joint letter of protest to the UoN VC and the Chair of University Council on behalf of the AGS, W+IGS and the GLA.

Sie könnten vorzeitig beendet, nicht fortgesetzt oder programmatisch verändert werden. 99,7 Prozent des promovierenden und 90 Prozent des promovierten wissenschaftlichen Personals (ohne Professuren) sind befristet beschäftigt. Ein Einstellungsstopp, weil Förderungen wegfallen, würde das System binnen zwei Jahren personell aushöhlen, ohne dass ein Kündigungsschutz greift.

Cornell has agreed to accept the Trump administration's interpretation of civil rights laws and will use a DOJ memo on the topic as a training resource for staff.
