If you are at all interested in european history or weird documentaries, I would recommend you try to catch Fiume O Morte if you can - it talks about Gabriele D'Annunzio's brief pre-WW2 occupation of a city in modern day Croatia through locals' recreations of the photographs his media team took.
A ★★★★ review of Fiume o morte! (2025)
You can purchase a cherry liqueur called Sangue Morlacco ("Morlacco Blood") with Gabriele D'Annunzio's signature on the front, taken from a letter of praise he sent to the producers. It was renamed as...

As someone whose children were at Girl Guides Scotland, it impressed me that they were so open and welcoming.

To see this change now, because of *one* parent (presumably backed by a bitter GC terf billionaire) is genuinely upsetting.

Ultimately mixed feelings about Frankenstein - but whether or not the writing fully worked for me, it's still a gorgeous Del Toro spectacle, and worth a watch for the beautifully nasty anatomy scenes in the first half alone. boxd.it/bo1O2R

I think the favourite thing I've ever seen in this genre is people asking whether Byron would be cancelled today.

He was cancelled so hard in his own day that he had to leave the country and he never came back.
I'm sorry but as an eighteenth-centuryist, lol.

Jane Austen would be cancelled on campus if we'd read her letters?

Truly a take only possible from someone who doesn't know the mountains of heinous dirt we have on almost all major writers of the period.

I'm pleased to announce that I'll be on a panel at World Fantasy Con! I'll be talking about Queer Horror at 11am on Saturday in the Edinburgh room.

Otherwise, I'm volunteering at the art show, and you can find me sitting behind the desk trying to tempt you into spending money on other people's art.

Pulp horror from @hexthervvv.bsky.social coming this Friday! 🏚️💉🩸🔪
My new story, Four Flowers in Formaldehyde, comes out in Pink Hydra on October 3rd. The story is heavily influenced by "mad science" horror films of the mid-20th century - where deadly experiments are performed in the basements of crumbling gothic manors in pursuit of youth, beauty and immortality.
