C'mon Wired. It takes no time for your article to share that experts think this is "pseudoscience" and "sexist". How about putting that in the lede? Your bait worked - I clicked and read the many, many words summarizing a conclusion that was always obvious.

... But, when the parents are like those referenced in the article- organized and highly educated- I think the average person massively overestimates the negative social impact of homeschooling. Currently, the in-person American public high school experience is pretty lousy.

Interesting article. As an American public school teacher, however, the vast majority of students either going into homeschooling, or coming out of homeschooling, seem to have massive skill gaps. Most American parents are not qualified to homeschool their middle or high school students...

"Controversial"? Again, it's the weekend, and ol' Red is at the NPR copy editor desk. It's illegal. NPR can read the National Guard's mission just like a dope like me. And it's clear that short of 'quell a domestic insurrection', it's not warranted and thus, not legal.
