Just got through with today’s vet visit.

Cat is somehow more anemic which is not what we expected so he can’t get his teeth out.

We’ve done oral flea meds & are doing oral steroids + pain meds now to see if there’s any chance we can get things under control.

If I’m unresponsive at some point…

There’s a significant amount of revisionist history out there on this. The reddit discussion I saw looked like outright lies intended to make things worse also.

Plus there were several back to back dramas that made things worse.

Headache is better today but I think I used most of my energy this morning doing some brain intensive stuff.

The cat ate some chicken that wasn't mousse style also which is good. We have a vet appt to check anemia again on Monday (+antibiotics in case he still can't have teeth removed.)

I have some notes somewhere about setting up cellular extenders if you're there for awhile. (Not worth it if this is very temporary.)

I have some other notes somewhere else about camper van stuff with either cellular or I think a French owned satellite company that works in the US.

I watched a neighbor do something like this and to this day I question if that side of that house where the shrub was has been sinking a bit because there were a lot of roots (the truck finally won the battle against the shrub.) 🫠

Totally get this as well. I know the DMs are not on ATProto so I don’t know how much additional attention they are getting just yet so figured the workarounds were worth mentioning just in case.

Right now you can self host your PDS (the content storage) but a lot of the “front end” isn’t even hosted with Bluesky so you have to trust that those interfaces will remain online.

It’s still early days and I suspect this will shift and evolve. (Leaflet is doing a lot of good work.)

Ghost.io is probably the closest to Substack af the moment in terms of being able to monetize and self host on a Digital Ocean droplet (they also have hosted options but I know some people have had issues there so donate and self host is better for some.)

Yeah I think I’m on somehow both a “porn” and “not porn” list (unless those accounts left or were banned.)

I find it interesting what people choose to do but I don’t worry about it too much. I might if it were someone I’m mutuals/regular chats with and they were blatantly wrong.

I honestly can't remember what triggered me into starting doing this but I think I had to ask someone for an installer I didn't have & was no longer online. There's an older folder on an external hard drive but for some reason I considered 2011 a cut off for easier access.

In 2020 I kinda appreciated that some key things tried their best to support older hardware. I was able to run Zoom on a 2011 Macbook even though it had never had Zoom on it before for example.

I get why this isn't always possible. (It's also why I obsessively keep installers & sorted by machine.)

Also I double checked and I've had this account since 2009.

I feel like the last few years have been "you have to start over entirely. Nothing that's been reliable for more than 8 years will continue to be reliable." And it's the things I least expect too because they've BEEN reliable.

Apparently when they switched out some of their back end in March it reactivated my account & I just now noticed. At least it wasn't a $$$ spam call bill like why I kept it in perma-disabled mode.

Debating still if I am just going to cancel it.

Anyone have a cheap voip capable of porting an 800 #?

I think some people use deck.blue in browser too. It's not my personal taste though (good interface, just I felt overwhelmed in tweetdeck back in the day too.)

The main app is better than it used to be. Skeets works.

Honestly on the ipad I sometimes just use the browser unless I'm watching for notifications.

Croissant, Tapestry & Openvibe are the others but I haven't checked them on ipad.
