This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Dear April Fools Day:
Not this year. I'm having a hard enough time fact-checking everything I see.
We are all at the breaking point. We will believe anything. And in the same breath, not believe anything.
Please give us a break this year.
Signed,
I just can't

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

We need to STOP saying that Trump lies.
Instead, he is MAKING THINGS UP.
LYING makes him sound machiavellian - strong, smart, conniving.
MAKING THINGS UP sounds more like a 5 year old who says they saw a dragon at the park. And that isn't strong or conniving or smart; it's acting like a child.

HYBRID PUBLISHING:
If you published your book using a hybrid publisher...
💥What did you like about the process?
💥What did you not like?
💥Would you recommend that publisher, and if so, why?
I know I will have other questions later on, but for now - these are a start. Anyone?

This single phrase has been helping us navigate these truly insane times: "Future me knows how to do this."
In this week's newsletter, we shared an exercise for asking "Future You" for that wisdom. It's been helping our team and we hope it helps you.

In future generations, when your children and grandchildren look back on this moment, they are not going to ask about the price of eggs. They are going to ask you what you did. Not what you felt. Not what you paid. But what you did. And I want to be able to say I did everything I possibly could.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

If you brandish weapons and enter my home, claiming it as your own...
And I fight back with all my might...
Is the whole thing my fault for having a home in the first place?

In addition to calling my congressional reps, I’m calling my STATE and LOCAL legislators. They have the power to either comply or resist right now.
Unlike federal, those officials are our neighbors. And they are easy to beat in the next election. They are all on my list right now.

When the shock settles down, it is time for us to fight like the lives of everyone in our communities depends on it. Because it does.
President Trump’s order freezing trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans sent officials at schools, hospitals, nonprofit organizations and many others into a frantic scramble to understand the extent of the directive. Here's what to know.
Order to pause federal spending creates deep uncertainty for schools, nonprofits and companies.
