So there's an EU-funded campaign to get millenials to eat potatoes and - I swear to Jesus I'm not making this up - it's slogan is: "Europe's favourite since 1536."
A screenshot of a website that says "DISCOVER THE TASTY VERSATILITY OF POTATOES! Europe's favourite since 1536." banner ads say "funded by the european union" and "enjoy - it's from europe."

I started tracking the TRC's Calls to Action in 2016 and, since Eva Jewell and I stopped writing annual reports in 2023 out of despair, things have only become more bleak.

No meaningful structural changes have been made. They were never even attempted.

I would also add to this that autism existed before acetaminophen was synthesized and before any vaccines were developed. #HistMed #histSTM

A few friendly reminders about autism:

- Autism is not inherently a bad thing.
- Autism is not a death sentence.
- Autism is not a pejorative term.
- Autism is not a moral failing.
- Autism is not something to shame or ridicule.
- Autism is not something to hide.
- Autism is not a crime.

If you look back into the @nichecanada.bsky.social & @activehist.bsky.social archive 10-15 years there used to be a strong culture of comment and discussion on the posts, which no longer exists. Wish we would start that up again.

Do you know a great #EnvHist book that engages with #CdnHist broadly defined? Was it published in 2024 or 2025? Amazing! Nominate it for the @nichecanada.bsky.social book prize before the end of the year! niche-canada.org/2025/09/16/c...
