I have been told by friends who grew up in the Soviet Union that even in the USSR propaganda was not so blatant as what the Trump admin is doing now. This propaganda is more akin to North Korea, and violates multiple laws forbidding partisan politics by government officials.

Trump admin on Thu began airing video at airports across the country that blames Dems for gov shutdown. 13K air traffic controllers and 50K TSA officers must still turn up for work without being paid. They are set to get a partial paycheck next week for work performed before the shutdown.

As a ex-GOP youth activist, in the mid-2000s GOP started being influenced by literal communist sympathizing congressmen (two of whom I formerly worked for).

There is only one pro-American, anti-communist party now — the Democratic Party.

A lot of younger progressives and politicians that pander to that segment seem more interested in performative virtue than building on the great US history of progressivism. They are relatively affluent and never had to deal with a modicum of discomfort; their actions meaningless, vapid, and inane.

If politics is a game of persuasion, the current progressive wing that revels in esoteric intellectual arguments rather than persuading is a problem.

If voters can’t be persuaded to a cause, that cause loses.
