Books, classical music, prone to hyperbole. Just moved back to Minneapolis after 22 years in DC and I’m loving it. Someone assumed I was straight, so here’s this:🏳️‍🌈. hogglestock.com

BRITTEN, CLYNE, and BEETHOVEN with the @minnesotaorchestra.org to round off No Kings day.
This is how you know you are in Minneapolis
I realize my complaint is colored by the fact that I am buying stuff for only one person.
I’m convinced Costco and similar exist just to fill up all the space in those overly large suburban tract homes.

This would also extend to EF BENSON, Angela THIRKELL, and just about anything from DEAN STREET PRESS...etc.

I promise homemade scones with clotted cream, maybe a Parkin and a Victoria Sponge...
20th c cosyish British Fiction Fans in the Twin Cities: Anyone want to start a casual social group that cares about things like PERSEPHONE, the PENELOPES, PYM, DE STEVENSON, BROOKNER...etc? Was thinking of hosting an Xmas tea in early December...

(Bookish reskeets in any geography are appreciated)

In some ways it was also easier. Unless calling long distance you didn't have to remember area codes and if you were calling locally you usually only had one prefix to remember so it was just a matter of the last four. (I still use one of my friend's childhood last four as my PIN.)
The Mississippi was like glass this evening.

Remember when I flew to Berlin just to see Nixon in China but the production was so horrifically bad I left half way through?

Well, I'm going to try again, this time with Fleming and Hampson at the Paris Opera. Fingers crossed everyone, fingers crossed.

NY Phil (and LA Phil) tix are obscenely expensive.
Popped it in the mail on Thursday
I love both of them, but particularly Shadows on the Rock. It’s such a great read.
I literally just typed the word "skool" in an email.

I haven't spelled it that way since first grade. (If even then.)
And then I thought, is there a way I can add more gray?
After the absolutely hideous production of Nixon in China that I walked out of, I'm afraid to ever go to the Deutsche Oper Berlin again. I guess I will stick to the Berlin Phil.

If someone's account is set to only accept comments from people they follow, I wish the algorithm would refrain from putting them in my timeline. #block It's like the cool kids clique in HS playing out in 1s and 0s.
