#r4today #bbcr4today. When he mentions that the BBC shows bias about Brexit, Global Warming, and Black Lives Matter Charles Moore's agenda becomes very transparent.

#r4today Your bias seems to be showing. At 7.00 o'clock you announce inflation has risen 4% (the predicted rate). Ten minutes later, you correct to no change at 3.8%. Did you have the knocking copy locked and loaded?

What with all this the UK should emulate Dubai stuff, following hot on the heels of Singapore model, are there any other niche authoritarian city states we could go for? Brunei? Machiavelli’s Florence? Ancient Sparta?

Just found out that Amanda Feilding died in late May. I met her a couple of times. A true English eccentric and psychanaut. She could have been a character in a Blandings Castle novel, if Wodehouse took acid. Not many get an obituary in Fortean Times and The Tatler. www.tatler.com/article/aman...
‘Crackpot Countess’ or ‘Queen of Consciousness’? Remembering Amanda Feilding, the Countess of Wemyss and March, who dedicated her life to LSD research
As the Countess of Wemyss and March passes away at the age of 82, Tatler recounts the extraordinary life of the aristocrat who partied with Allen Ginsberg, married in an Egyptian necropolis, and once ...

Why is the BBC front page reporting the fact that there are 20 protestors outside the #bellhotel? Are they gonna keep me up dated about the bus queue round the corner then? #asylumseekers

It's simple, if you throw paint on a plane then you get proscribed and any 80 year olds defending you get arrested.

If you ask people to burn down hotels, and they try, you get an interview in the Telegraph and positive coverage in the BBC.

That's sensible, proportionate policing.

This thread is worth reading if you actually want to know about the situation around asylum hotels and what Reform proposes to do (essentially nothing).
Nigel Farage of Reform calls for protests emulating "the good people of Epping" around the country. He predicts he will be called "a far right provacateur" for calling for peaceful protests.

He proposes that 30,000 people in hotels with an asylum claim pending could all now be detained & deported

Saw Cry Freedom in Kenya. The scene when Donald Wood (Kevin Kline) tells Steve Biko (Denzel Washington) that he shouldn't be in the Newspaper office as it was a controlled area? Biko replies; "this is my country I can go where I like." The whole audience got up and applauded.
Well-mannered arthouse screening of Michael Haneke's Hidden. Entire audience let out a communal horrified gasp at the throat-cutting.
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.

Fracking is ivermectin for RW energy "gurus."
Both Labour and the Tories should really hope Reform continues leaning into “frack, baby, frack” stuff. It may be their best hope.
Fracking tests *vastly* worse than any other form of energy generation but they're still crapping on about it.

Is it eating?
Researchers have found that inactivity is not the main cause of obesity. A new study published this week offers the best ways, in the long run, to avoid and treat obesity.
What causes obesity? A major new study is upending common wisdom.
Many people assume obesity is caused by inactivity and burning fewer calories. But our diets — and excess calorie intake — may actually be the cause.
