i genuinely believe that the further music journalism/arts criticism in general gets from the magazine model the worse it is. i want to read good and insightful writing and everything about our current media model disincentivizes that

In an age where AI slop websites have made entire categories of information difficult to find, what we need is Yahoo (or Dmoz): a human-curated list of reliable websites, organized by topic.

I've wondered the past few years what musical narrative(s) would emerge if we still had a functioning music crit public sphere; which albums/artists would've been lifted up by the shared desire of multiple publications to get a piece of the traffic
so many people invest in music for the love of it and it sucks that the market does not reward that but i admire their (our, hopefully) persistence
