The Late Show (1977) isn't a spoof. It's the story of a retired private detective dragged back into the business when his old partner turns up murdered. It's about people still having worth when they get old. Shares DNA with Twilight (1998). Both films were written and directed by Robert Benton.

One interesting thing in "Batman should spend his money better" circle jerks is assumptions there would... "Exist" a Bruce Wayne with money, even calling the existence of supervillains in-text "justifications." But Batman having money is the same: In-text explanation for how he affords superheroing
