I'm trying to decide between hardback ticks and orbweaver spiders for my next book project.
A guide to orbweavers would be more fun but it would take me longer to complete. A guide to ticks would directly save more lives but the 50 identical Ixodes species look absolutely miserable to illustrate.

There's something about Bluesky and the current AI backlash that seems to create a perfect storm for misinformation. The big AI companies aren't transparent and a lot of other companies are dabbling with AI, so when someone says "Follow these instructions or else gen AI wins!" everyone jumps on it.

ANSWER: I waited for a stretch of consecutive frosts. The wasps used up most of their energy trying to keep warm through the night and did not have much longer left to live.
I love how learning enough science can let me do silly things like safely remove an active yellowjacket nest with my bare hands without any pesticides. Bonus points if you can guess the secret!
