You’re not alone if you care about what’s happening with climate change. If you’re feeling disheartened because you feel that no one cares, know that 65% of Americans are at least somewhat worried. It often doesn’t feel that way since a similar percentage doesn’t talk about climate, but it’s true!

Yale researchers didn't stop there. They also identified what people most need to know to catalyze action and support climate policy; and it's not about global temps, ice sheets, or ocean currents.

What people most need to know about climate change is that (1) others care, and (2) there is hope.
Understanding six “key truths” about climate change predicts policy support, discussion, and political advocacy

(Sorry for that weird and non-functioning link that I see Bluesky automatically put in my post and that I can’t delete! 🤷‍♀️🙄🤦‍♀️)

The problematic nature of Penn’s institutional “neutrality” aside, I’m grateful for your choosing your public scholarship and outreach over being vice provost, and for your being the kind of person who would make that choice. Thank you. Our country and world needs you in these roles.

Yeah, the anti-science contingent is really doing some harm.

Being siloed here on Bluesky is definitely an issue, agreed. I hope the public health messaging by orgs (all of them, not just APA) will reach some people and break through.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) doesn’t cause autism.

Here’s the American Psychological Association’s statement about it.

It’s so important to share those joys and to cultivate that connection with the natural world—thank you for doing that for them. Always important to nurture that, but especially so in an age where there’s so much disconnection from it. And what we love, we want to protect.

Actually, children’s mental health would improve if kids were valued in this country. Therapy isn’t the problem.

➡️ Choose kids over guns.
➡️ Stop destroying nature, so kids can have free play outside.
➡️ Choose kids over fossil fuel addiction.

AT A MINIMUM.

The relevant lobby here is the fossil fuel lobby, and its money is the reason for politicians’ support for fossil fuels. Big Oil gave Trump and Republicans $450M in the last election. Agree with you on solar panels needing to be absolutely everywhere.

Absolutely yes, I get it. Can feel like a drop in the bucket sometimes but every bit of good, including posting truth, matters in this world.

Yes—it’s critical for people to start making the connection between their climate anxiety and taking action by voting in people who are not climate deniers.

It’s painful to lose a therapist, but it’s made better when the therapist has made plans for such circumstances, as I learned when my own therapist handled it all with candor and grace. Thanks to @ellenbarry.bsky.social at @nytimes.com for writing this important piece and for including me.

65% of Americans are at least somewhat worried about climate change—worries that are based on facts. Trump-EPA’s plan reflects an administration/leader in thrall to fossil fuel money and w/ no qualms about causing suffering. Sadism loves power and has no empathy.

Newspaper coverage of climate change around the globe dropped 6% from May to June 2025 -- and by 28% compared to June 2024, despite increasing frequency and severity of climate-fueled extreme weather events.
