Remember what matters. Our lives are short, but the future stretches out forever.
Everyone says "take care of yourself" but in my view, frankly, that is a juvenile approach to life. Take care of your children, of all children, of the future. Deprioritise your "self."
Their future is in our hands.
Ukraine, Europe, Canada, USA. No, wait, they already have the USA.
Meanwhile in Russia: Dimitri Simes said that Trump never even read the "peace plan" he wanted Zelensky to sign. Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov said Europeans will have to kneel before Russia if it wins in Ukraine.

jfc. It was determined by a US judge that she could not be deported to Sierra Leone due to danger she would face in the country she fled. So they deported her to Ghana, a country she had never been to, and Ghana deported her to Sierra Leone.

This country is fucking sick. Deeply deeply fucking sick

I’ve been in or around politics for over a half-century now.

I’ve watched as corporations and the super-rich flooded D.C. with campaign cash and ransacked our system.

It won't be easy, but here’s how we break the corporate oligarchy and return power to the people.

"I would submit, your honours (judges of the ICC) that in fact requesting such a letter from your superior reflects knowledge that what you were doing was in fact a war crime.."
I was speaking to someone earlier who told me that American servicemen and women are being told they can request some sort of get out of war crime jail free letter from superiors and that’s not a thing. If the entire operation is illegal every action is fruit from the poisonous tree. 🌳

The better governments always blame climate disinfo / denial for a lack of progress, but they have failed to address climate disinfo for 30 years.
WHY? They benefit from it too. Carney and others couldn't be on their LNG spree without decades of climate disinfo.
Cop30 live: Deal agreed at Cop after long negotiations
After a series of all-night meetings and fears the summit could collapse, an agreement has been gavelled through at Cop30

You don't need to have hope in the COP process to have hope. We can find it in ourselves and each other, in our willingness to resist, and to fight for the future, for a liveable future for all children and future generations.
After two weeks of #COP30 negotiations, countries agreed to BEGIN DISCUSSIONS on fossil fuel phase out. And as the article says, "they achieved this incremental progress only in the teeth of implacable opposition from oil-producing countries."

THIS is the problem with requiring unanimous decisions.

Why do COPs fail? Well, one of the most important, COP 15, at Copenhagen in 2009, where the trajectory of the IPCC process was to be set for decades, was undermined by the USA spying on delegates.

And that was under the most law abiding president in the last 25 years.

Another problem with the net zero myth is: military emissions are not counted.

They are estimated at 5.5% globally, so when we hit "net zero" we'll actually be at about +5.5%.
Another problem with the myth of net zero is: when does nature become a net source of GHGs?
