CHRISTINE MAXWELL'S CHILIAD hile Wade was involved in operat- frastructure of US intelligence and in guiding the rise of Palantir, he was also intimately involved with another company known as Chiliad. Chiliad was a data analytics company founded in the late 1990s by Paul McOwen, Robert Maxwell's daughter Christine Maxwell, and an unnamed third individual.50 However, sources such as Bloomberg lists Alan Wade as the "mysterious" third co-founder of Chiliad, meaning that Wade, as the third co-founder, was involved in creating Chiliad while also serving in a top post at the CIA. 51 The company was founded with "$3 million in angel investment" of unknown origin. 52 This is significant for two main reasons. First, Chiliad was developed to be the very tool that would be sought by US intelligence in the immediate aftermath of September 11, an event that notably took place shortly after Wade became the CIA's chief information officer. 53 The company had conveniently been set up well in advance, allowing it to score key contracts with the US government, including the FBI, thanks to the advanced stage of its product as well as its founders's intelligence connections. This, along with a glowing recommendation from the 9/11 Commission, benefited Chiliad's software, which was remarkably similar to the PROMIS software and early versions of Palantir. 54

He received some sympathetic press, with Brown cast in the role of a 4chan-inspired troll harassing a patriotic private citizen. Matthew Steckman, the Palantir employee who worked on ways to compromise journalists and activists, was placed on leave, then brought back and promoted. Now he works at the military startup Anduril, which, like Palantir, is backed by Peter Thiel. Pat Ryan, who worked for Team Themis member Berico, became an executive at Dataminr, which sifts social media for law enforcement clients. In 2022, running as a Democrat, Ryan was elected to Congress.

In video footage released yesterday, Cambridge Analytica chief executive Alexander Nix (pictured above) appears to suggest the company uses honey traps, bribery stings and prostitutes to gather dirt on candidates, which it then releases to the public. "We'll offer a large amount of money to the candidate, to finance his campaign in exchange for land for instance, we'll have the whole thing recorded, we'll blank out the face of our guy and we post it on the Internet," Nix said in the video. Nix also said he could "send some girls around to the candidate's house," adding that Ukrainian girls "are very beautiful, I find that works very well".

Ghislaine Maxwell testified that she had introduced Jeffrey Epstein to Murray Gell-Mann of the Santa Fe Institute (SFI), a scientific think-tank he co-founded, stating that "Murray Gell-Mann and Epstein got along very, very well" — a claim that is is well supported by their later interactions. Ms. Maxwell spoke of her father's relationship with the Santa Fe Institute; he began making donations to the group in about 1990, and Ms. Maxwell introduced Epstein to Murray Gell-Mann sometime shortly after the two met in 1991. Gell-Mann, a Nobel prize winning particle physicist, co-founded the Santa Fe Institute in 1984 to help continue the kind of freewheeling scientific inquiry that characterized the Manhattan project and the research outfits that helped fuel it, specifically the Los Alamos National Laboratory and a constellation of related government-backed institutions which were coming under pressure to "slim down" during the Reagan era and the end of the Cold War, which appeared imminent. Erik Baker, an historian of science based at Harvard, researched SFl's arc as it transitioned from Cold War scientific playground as to become more oriented around serving the needs of the corporate donors on which it was fully dependent.

Emails show JPMC private bankers withheld information on Epstein’s suspicious activity from JPMC’s compliance department. VII. Epstein’s accountant Harry Beller was an integral part of Epstein’s financial operation and his potential links to sex trafficking crimes merits further investigation. VIII. Jeffrey Epstein paid Ghislaine Maxwell at least $25 million, including a one-time payment of $19 million from his accounts at JPMC.

The activists provided recordings of interviews with Thomas to The Intercept. Some of the quotes in this story come from that audio. Thomas figured that the relationship, and the house he was living in — a mansion at 8517 Franklin Avenue in Hollywood Hills listed at $13 million — could be a step toward a career in real estate. “It was something to do during the pandemic. I was kind of over my one bedroom apartment,” he said. “I did real estate in New York, and I was considering getting my license and doing investment — flipping homes and doing investment properties in LA and I figured that this could be maybe one of my first in my portfolio. … I knew I wasn’t going to be in it for the long run.” Several of Thomas’s friends in Los Angeles said they often saw Thiel at Thomas’s home, and also saw Thomas at Thiel’s nearby home on Metz Place. (Unrelatedly, before Thomas moved in, the home was owned by leading figures in the bizarre NXIVM sex cult that was rolled up in 2021, according to property records.)
