It could be really bad for Discord if Californians contact the office of the Attorney General to report the potential violations of CCPA and CALOPPA citing the recent breach from a few months back where 1.5tb of user data and millions of IDs were leaked, but who can say for sure?

Gonna shout out Stoat Chat (formerly ReVolt) again!!! Please check it out as it's basically a FOSS Discord-like. It is still in development and needs love and support. But I think it's the better Discord alternative.

It's generally difficult to actually kill a large social media platform, or at at least severely put a dent in user numbers, but age verification and user IDs are probably the only sure fire way to do it

The thing that about child safety online is that it is going in the exact wrong direction.
As a kid I had it drilled into me that I was never to disclose my real name, location, age or other identifiable information so that people couldn't groom me.
But that's hard on marketers, so.
