At #FeministFunded2025, iF leadership shared how we operationalize Black Feminist practices across philanthropy, embedding them in our strategy, values, and community partnerships.

Because for us, Black Feminism isn’t theory. It’s practice.

“Black feminism isn’t a niche lens; it’s a democratic infrastructure. If authoritarianism hoards power, our job is to share it, in governance, in capital, and in story.” — Temi F. Bennett
Black August was a time of restoration for our team. ✨ iF staff and leadership spent the month in Martha’s Vineyard, surrounded by Black leaders and visionaries across business, tech, media, philanthropy, and more. 🖤 #BlackAugust
Last month we hosted the Government Leaders in Action Annual Retreat across the DMV

It was all about trust, courage, & co-creating racial equity strategies.
Questions we explored:
→ What’s the work of now?
→ How do we measure impact?
→ What innovations must we all adopt?

The energy = unmatched.
Our DC Reparations Daily(ish) Zine, created in partnership with BLIS Collective, digs deeper into what reparations look like here in Washington, D.C.—rooted in history, lived experiences, and community visions of repair.

To read the full zine, visit: www.iffdn.org/reparations-...
What does reparations really mean? According to the UN, reparations are more than a payment. They’re about truth, justice, acknowledgment, and repair.

Our panel featuring iF Co-CEO Temi F. Bennett, Greater Washington Community Foundation President & CEO Tonia Wellons, and Storytelling for Good CEO Kerry-Ann Hamilton was a powerful and impactful conversation on repair, justice, and what it will take to close the Black wealth gap in DC.
We had a packed house at iF’s screening of “Diminished Returns: The Black Wealth Gap in Washington, D.C.” at the 23rd Annual Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival!
Because of Let’s GO DMV! hospitality workers have been able to pay off debt, spend time with loved ones, and even go back to school.

Everyone deserves the freedom to thrive.

We do this by using our iF IDs, our identity, as our guiding light. We fund through the lens of innovation, disruption, and systems change because we know the status quo was never built for us. And we’re not here to reform it, we’re here to radically reimagine everything.
At iF, we don’t just talk values, we move with them.

Our Community Power program shifts decision-making to the people who live the issues every day. That means funding grassroots organizations in the D.C. region doing the real work: organizing, advocating, and building toward racial justice.
At a time when rent, groceries, and basic survival are getting harder to afford, what iF policymakers chose dignity over scarcity?

Financial insecurity isn’t an individual failure; it’s a systemic one. That’s why we’re fighting to make #guaranteedincome permanent. 💰

What iF financial security weren’t just a dream, but a right?

Let’s GO DMV! is a guaranteed income pilot that provided direct, no-strings-attached cash to hospitality workers in the D.C. region—because everyone deserves the freedom to thrive. 🧵

Pride started as protest, and Black queer people have always led the way.

We see the organizers, artists, performers, and community builders mobilizing, making space, healing, and spreading joy every year, and we honor you. ✨

iF is a safe space to explore:

✨What iF philanthropy were community-centered and rooted in a Black feminist framework?
✨What iF it resourced movements instead of managing them?

We support coalitions shifting how government resources are distributed—moving away from extraction & toward repair, justice, & accountability.

Reparations are not charity. It's a debt long past due & actively collecting interest. 🫰🏾📈

We work to dismantle the systems that uphold racial capitalism, extraction, and harm through coalition work and government capacity building. 🧱

#RadicalPossibility #iFOnBluesky #WhatiF
Our communities deserve rest, care, and space to heal from systemic and interpersonal harm.

Healing is political. Rest is resistance. 🌟

What iF we told the truth?

We believe in shifting culture by shifting narratives. 💯
