If I were Mills my campaign would be focused entirely on Collins from the start. I'm in this race to defeat Collins...I think I'm the most suited to defeat Collins...Vote for me if you agree. It would ignore Platner completely.

It would force his campaign to be entirely about Mills.

It's the most superfluous scene in the film. It seemed to exist mostly as a way to get rid of the character it happened to. Same with the bite.

Gena Rowlands' character says "he won't be coming back" and we needed a why, so they threw those in.
