I enjoy political strategy and reading historical fiction. Overwhelmed with feeling betrayed by my countrymen and the media.

It’s never been clearer how the twin pillars of our discourse, by which we all have to abide - “Free speech is non-negotiable” and “Some things are literally unsayable” - operate so the right can say whatever tf they like, while the left have to spend their time apologising for breathing
I am also interested in how, after at least a half-decade of our media and politicians deriding tone policing, trigger warnings, inclusive language and other concepts, they have pivoted on a dime to debating whether certain utterances should be made criminal offences without a moment's hestitation.
I invite you to ask yourself why the language of protestors has been a terrifying daily concern, but e.g. successive governments giving the US unlimited use of our airbases to fly a gajillion dollars of weapons of destruction into Israel for use on huge numbers of civilians is not concerning at all.

Thanks to @hcrichardson.bsky.social, we’ll all be rewatching An American President tonight in honor of Rob Reiner, which is lucky tor us. It’s a great movie.
(If memory serves, Annette Bening has some lines about Congress’ inaction on gun violence which will be apt).

The timing of this post and the reference to the murders being "due to the anger ... caused others through … TDS" suggests strongly that Trump believed that **one or more of his supporters** had committed the murders—and that they had committed the atrocity **justifiably**.
