Daniel Kehlmann's Lichtspiel (published in English as 'The Director ') is a standout read to cap 25 and set the bar for 2026. A deeply human protagonist, though thought a genius, is confused, compromised and tossed about on the waves of history, fortune, fate.

Star Raiders cartridge in an Atari 600XL home computer, 14" colour CRT, bent mental lounge chair pulled right up. Figured the pins on the joystick port and used components from my Kosmos electronics kit to build a separate trigger button. For a minute there, I lost myself in space.
It's the late 70s. Elgin, Scotland and I'm at the showies with my Dad. We approach the small arcade. The space invaders cabinet draws my attention with it's strange monsters on the side. My dad lifts me up to see the screen and I place my hands on the buttons. Loved video games ever since

I'm reading Tim Binding's 'Beneath the Trees of Eden' and its the strangest thing. The setting is England, late 20th C, but the characters are somehow... shamanic?... unbounded by convention, by quotidian reality. I would love to know how Tim found them, nurtured them.

This weekend marks the 6 month "anniversary"of my daily TM practice. I'm not the one to judge if I've become better/calmer/more creative (re-read with Radiohead voice). But I do know that I enjoy it every time I start that mantra.

Mid-build coffee break. This is my first "board" as such (have had most of the pedals for years). Largely used for ambient beds behind bass (I often capo in "extended guitar" range - call me weird if you want) or guitar with sustainer pick up. #pedalboard
