That’s pretty cool.

A few months ago I tried using birth date and birth gestation to calculate conception dates but wasn’t able to find interesting trends.

Only used data from a single healthcare system. Maybe low n, or maybe folks here just don’t like to … celebrate … as much as in England/Wales.

The reason I provided to them was: "There are consequences to Disney being unwilling to do what is right."

My kid (now 21) would have gotten along with your kid. Around the same age, she asked for a cake that said “Happy Birthday, Supreme Overlord”.

And for my birthday last year, she got me a book of the collected works of H.P. Lovecraft

Sad but grateful today. Told CFI that I'd be stopping flight training. Just under 100 hours total time, 33 hours solo, just needed school stage check + FAA checkride.

I'm grateful that I fulfilled a childhood dream of FLYING, but this is enough.

I'm going to miss the sky.

Would be nice if all those who left the CDC for conscience were welcomed to New England to set up shop

Sometimes I put notes to myself in a separate directory that I .gitignore because I don’t want them on GitHub.

Works ok until eventually I somehow accidentally save a private document outside that directory and essentially permanently make a private document public. Ugh.

I might not like using AI to replace thinking.

But maybe I can forgive a little, because thanks to ChatGPT, I have this gem.
For all intensive purposes, we need to nip this deep-seeded issue in the butt so we can hone in on our next-gen synergy stack and give stakeholders piece of mind, irregardless of the mute points raised in yesterday’s pow-wow, which, supposably, peaked a lot of interest — Viola! The paradigm shift we've been axing for!

As a med student, I did my family and community medicine block at San Quentin prison.

My complete orientation was “Don’t wear jeans, don’t wear orange, and if you get taken hostage, our primary responsibility will not be to rescue you.”

It was an interesting experience.

Boys with Noonan Syndrome at the 97%ile for BMI will collapse into a singularity at ~17.5 years age. It's very sad.

In other news, learned in 2 days how to use #Rlang #quarto-preprint with #typst to submit a report on corrected LMS growth curve parameters to #MedRxiv doi:10.1101/2025.07.29.25332354
Published LMS parameters to create Noonan Syndrome growth curves have severe issues, with the male BMI curve at the 97th percentile approaching infinity (and then imaginary numbers) at around 17.5 years of age.

Trying out Typst and Quarto templates for the very first time today and came across your `quarto-preprint` -- looks great!

Do you happen to have a test document that's ridiculously filled with every possible option that's currently supported, so I can see and poke at examples?

We finally made it to Bluesky—just a few billion years after the Big Bang, and only slightly late to the party ✨🌌

We’re sharing some of our best stories from the year so far to kick off our Bluesky journey!

Liked the Apple TV series, loved the books and LOVED this short story.

Spoilers minimal so long as you've read the first two books, but I think the short story is best appreciated after reading the entire book series.

Looking forward to Season 2 of more premium, quality entertainment!

Anyone know how to convince crows to visit? I wanna become a crowbro 🐦‍⬛

I’ve never personally seen/heard them close by home, but BirdWeather suggests they’re around.

I deployed a calculator for 2025 Fenton 3rd generation preterm growth charts.

Also analyzed effect of Fenton 2013 vs 2025 with n=2516 births <34 weeks (2016-2024):

• rate of SGA (10%ile) classification from 9.2% to 21%,
• mean ∆Z wt birth to discharge changed from -0.67 to -0.43

TIL that if you deploy changes to a testing environment, but then assess it in the live server, you are unlikely to see the newly implemented changes functioning.

And it only took me 2 days to figure out 🤦🏻‍♂️

The 3rd generation Fenton preterm growth charts were recently released, so being a data geek, I did some analysis of how the Fenton 2003/2013/2025 and Olsen 2010 preterm charts compared, and harmonization with the WHO growth standards.

Also some opinionated musing.
