I can feel summer dying, and it FUELS ME πŸ‚
I can feel summer dying, and it's breaking my heart!
Oops didn't mean to add the random link.
I was a bench jeweler in another life, so I know that work-zen-listen state well. Although my poison of choice was usually This American Life , true crime, or various actual play podcasts.
actual.play
Good. Good good good.

Also, if you're looking for Halloween-y podcasts may I suggest the Magnus Archives and Malevolent? Both are very enjoyable around this time of year. Neither are terribly obscure, but not sure how much of a podcast guy you are.
Clutching my last straw tightly in shaking fists.
Ah, Android here but I'll take a look - thanks for taking the time to share. Best of luck with your phone clamp down! :)

'I don't owe anyone anything'.

WRONG.

You do owe people basic decency and consideration, actually. This hyper-individualistic attitude is rotting away society and making life miserable. I hate hearing people regurgitate that fucking line.

You will feel accomplished when they're done !
I'm more of a cook than a baker, but it's like magic! I have some sourdough dough bulk fermenting on the counter at this very moment.
The optical illusion of this in digital is soooo good. Kudos.
My most sincere condolences, Raywat. May her memory live on in you and your family
They're playing DnD the point is "consequences via roll-of-dice". So I don't understand the personal insult in the play-out of that, I guess /2
Okay, respect to that as someone who appreciates media as escapism too. But you've phrased it as personal insult ("middle finger" "fuck you") from the media itself. I'm expecting a block for this but I just don't understand this chosen perspective. /1
I feel like a condemnation of "pointless death" is more applicable to a fully scripted series. Why hold a property 'accountable' for the (ostensible) randomness of dice rolls?

The only truly ethical response that a self-described artist can make. Anything else is a betrayal of one's colleagues.
β€œI am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, β€˜What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, β€˜I'd rather die.’” 🫑
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

In what way does it feel like that to you?
Yikes flu + covid vaccine kicking my ass this time. Such achy bones/joints! Luckily WFH (self schedule) life means midday baths are a-okay.
... (whether fair or not)

I know I find it pretty demeaning when someone uses AI to solicit us for work; as if we're not worth their genuine effort. I think I'd feel that double if it were in the realm of my precious flesh and blood (theoretically; I don't have kids so I'm extrapolating).
I feel like the difference here is that when selecting from a list of comments, the t is doing the selecting. With AI, the AI is 'selecting' and that output is then rubberstamped. There is a perception of "hands off" with AI that I think is understandably perceived as lack of engagement ...
Urgh I've been putting off 'upgrading', but was going to deal with it this week..
THANK YOU. Saw the headline and though "yeah, that's an ad."
Not to mention, everything feels so precarious due to AI and possible global/financial instability that it seems like a foolish thing to jump away from a secure job with no landing pad.
