after having witnessed the birth of the internet and existing online for 3 decades I can confidently say no feedback is more validating than tumblr reblog tags

No problem! I actually enjoy writing alt text a lot, it feels like an exercise in quickly and accurately summarising a drawing in a way that is functional to screen readers while also capturing a little bit of the feel of the image as well.

For some context, this is an illustration intended to kinda sum up one character's arc in my book THE VIPER MOURNED, which is the second in a series and the first has a free sample in my kofi. I get a lot of 'idk what this is from' tags and comments. It's always my own characters from my writing!

crawling beast of the earth (limited edition colourway ;)
Art showing a harpy with a large hooked beak attacking a creature resembling a bobbit worm. The harpy clings onto it in mid-air with his talons. A twisting skein of smoke surrounds them.

no yanksplaining about spring please

A foal I drew on the first day of spring, the 1st of February! #art
Vibrant painting of a white foal leaping over a pond grown over with duckweed and lilypads. The foal's tail and mane are bristly and short, and the background is crowded with abstract shapes in a variety of different greens.

Green version of the art I put on tumblr, just for the bluesky crowd :)

A green lion who's finally devoured the sun. What next?
Semi-abstract painting of a winged lion standing on an incline surrounded by clouds and black stars. A brilliantly glowing cascade of light spills from his jaws and runs down the slope, casting its illumination onto the lion's fur and mane.

the puppeteer and the knight, art based off my longterm wip novel :)
Illustration showing Pantera, a mechanical leopard, facing the viewer against a foggy pink and blue background. Flames spurt out from his nostrils and mouth, as well as streaming out from the cracks between his sooty black armour. A pair of human hands float over him, puppeteering him with fine blue strings. The fingers have mercury symbol knuckle and finger tattoos. Splashes of quicksilver float around the frame.

Been having fun drawing a lot of harpy characters lately :) This art was previewed on my patreon first.
Lineless drawing of a white harpy standing in a raptorial stance with his wings open above him, casting his body into shade as he looks back over his shoulder at the viewer. He has pale grey eyes and red pupils and wispy feathers around his face, as well as a pair of smaller wings where his ears should be. The background is dark and abstract featuring line drawings of brown and red seaweeds. Close up of the harpy's face, he has pink skin, a pointy nose, and blue eyes with a red iris flash. Whiskers fan out around his face.
