Do you have back pain, but are thinking that maybe you’d like to catch the flu or COVID on top of that?

If so, do not look for further information on my back pain clinic which offers virtual and telephone consultations.

I’m not afraid to call things out.
Popularized back in never, the advice to “go roll on a porcupine” as a treatment strategy for back pain should be avoided at all cost.

Even if it’s covered by your extended health plan.

Here’s the thing…

Even if COVID/infection control isn’t a worry for you, it is for others.

The simple (and it is simple) act of donning a mask at a patient’s request shows care and compassion.

Patients are already worried about their health. Why not ease this burden for them when they ask?
Someone posted about prepping for a medical appointment they had, and the provider denied a request to wear an N95 mask for the patient’s safety because it’s “no longer a requirement.”

That is plain old bad healthcare provider-ing.

For a number of reasons.

Improve back pain, decrease risk of catching something else.

Virtual care can help.
Why offer virtual care for back pain?

Because sitting in a busy waiting room can be much riskier for people with health and autoimmune conditions.

You wouldn’t think that your patients feeling heard, and having enough time to ask their questions and understand the answers would be selling points.

Yet here we are.

Regular physical activity
Whole foods
Managed stress
Regular restful sleep
Friendships
Avoid excess smoking/OH

Support programs, systems, and societies that prioritize these things FOR EVERYONE, and you prioritize good health.

Why offer virtual care for back pain?

Because mobility challenges can be a barrier to accessing in-person care.

Why offer virtual care for back pain?

Because not everyone has close or convenient access to a clinic.

Hey Ontario… you know the freezing rain and snow a bunch of us are dealing with right now, and it makes driving even short distances challenging?

Stay home. That’s where virtual care for your back pain can help…

Something I say with new patients before we start an initial assessment…

“If there’s anything I say that you don’t agree with, or something you think I have wrong, please let me know. You won’t offend me, you won’t hurt my feelings. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions.”

Happy New Year.

Coming up with a post that ties in the new year and back pain is challenging - informative/inspiring/funny/sensitive…?

I’ll let you know if I come up with something good.

Suggestions welcome.

You’re about to make an exercise-based new year resolution, aren’t you?

That’s awesome.

This is one of my favourite videos about the benefits of physical activity, and how you don’t need to be a sports superstar to gain huge benefits.

I remember writing this and wanting to share it because it can be worthwhile information for people suffering with back pain.
Do you have back pain?

Are you limited by health, or mobility in finding care?

Is getting care limited by distance?

Do you want to avoid the risk of catching the flu or COVID by going to a clinic?

Then please read on… 1/7
