Age verification?

I remember when arcades were mostly pinball machines and nothing had a video screen.
Age verification?

I remember having to murder a robot each time anyone wanted to use the internet.
Age verification?

I remember when you couldn’t talk to your friend in your room because the house phone wasn’t wireless

"If you tell a stranger on the internet ANYTHING about yourself then THE KILLER will GET you." Similar vibe TBH

Trusting Elon Musk to get you to the moon is like trusting the uber driver to get you to your destination after he steps on the gas and a meth pipe rolls out from under the driver’s seat

Back in my day you were taught that if anyone online even knows your hair colour, you're fucking DEAD
Kinda Fucked Up that in our lifetimes we've gone from "never share personal info on the internet" to "hand over your identity to the most incompetent corporations imaginable".

Agreed! I wrote quite a bit—you know, twenty years—before I got published. It may seem that writers/artists come out of nowhere, but that’s marketing for you. Creative folks work at their craft.

Which is why they tend to get annoyed when people steal it.
I'm going to say this again in case you haven't heard this one: I was a talented writer and it did *nothing whatsoever* because I hadn't put in the work, and I put in the work for ten years (subtracting the bit where I had to quit for my mental health) to write Witchmark

talent alone could *never*

You got this. Do some washing up by hand. See where it gets you

At least you'll have clean pots and plates

I get my ideas organically like every writer should. Ideally way too far from any note-taking equipment.

The best ideas come forth when naked in the shower. Or up to one's elbows in dough or dishwashing. Or entangled in ikea furniture in progress.

Getcher hands full, and see what happens.

Found in my internet explorations and yeah. MOOD.

Query letter 3/5 complete. Agents of the world, watch out.

I really wish it would

The MO is always the same:

1) Minimalist author account contacts me and goes into private chat
2) back-and-forth about writing methods, tools, etc
3) Sudden switch to market-based technobabble, shortly followed by "I know a guy"
4) Intro to scam "marketer"
February 5, 2026 at 12:34 AM
This is why I get my hackles up when people on BlueSky start talking Economic-speak when claiming to be authors. All these deleted account here chatted books and writing with me for a while before directing me to a "friend in marketing" who was actually an AI Slop Scam.

Fooled only once.
