She is a Trump ally who supports foreign military intervention in Venezuela, and privatization of the state oil company. She supported a short-lived military coup against democratically elected socialist president Hugo Chavez. She dedicated the award to Trump. Oh well, even Kissinger got a Nobel!

Aside from his bruised ego, Trump has little reason to resent the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, the conservative Scion of a wealthy Venezuelan family, who has said the politician she most admires is Margaret Thatcher. Ms. Machado has long supported privatizing the state oil company, a move other opposition leaders say would put Venezuela’s most valuable resource in the hands of a few. She backed a short-lived coup against Venezuela’s democratically elected socialist president Hugo Chavez in 2002, and has long been a darling of right Washington politicians.
