later, could be too late 🤔
The worst case scenario for an AOC presidential run in 2028 is that she’s setting herself up for 2032 or 2036.

She is going to be president someday—it’s just a matter of time.
You Know What? Maybe the Time Is Right for an AOC Presidential Bid
She’s only 36, and there’s a good argument that she should run for Senate and bide her time. But she also could be a formidable White House candidate.

This is huge. The ban & proscription on Palestine Action was unlawful - though remains for now, pending appeal. It set a terrifying precedent. Because of course this isn’t terrorism. Nor are signs being held up peacefully to support them. Proud to know people there today, far braver than I am now.

I love this pulse of life,
this scent of books.
Yes, we’re living through a very hard winter,
but we will get through it.

As ever, lovely writing here. Old ruined farm buildings are like a magnet for me. So many round here on the Trust Estates. If you haven’t read the Guardian Country Diary for 4th Feb do seek it out - it’s a gem.
So much rain. Mourning the frosty, snowy winters we used to have here. But the catkins are lengthening, & the birdsong strengthening, & I found this old hut on the corner of the woods on the edge of the down & imagined the keepers & shepherds & travellers that had sheltered here, & lit that fire.

Another round of peace talks took place tonight. The results are on the map. Rocket and drone explosions in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and many other cities all night. In the morning, electricity and heat were out in many areas.

A safe, secure and prosperous Arctic is a global common good.

It’s up to us to make that happen.

That is what the EU will work for, together with the Arctic nations.

Kyiv is in total blackout,
as are many parts of Ukraine.
No water, no heating, no electricity.
Severe frost outside.

This is the result of constant russian attacks.

Thank you to those few who still care.
