I think this is the longest book I’ve ever read and listeners of @itysrpod.bsky.social have heard me mention the book numerous times, mostly in trepidation of reading the bloody thing. Stupidly proud of myself for getting the head down and reading it. Maybe next year I’ll do Haughey.
I should add, I started my 700 page biography of J Edgar Hoover today. I am the biggest Dad alive.

Would you like to hear @ronanhession.bsky.social's thoughts on 'The Notebook Trilogy' by Ágota Kristóf. My favourite description of the series so far is Rónán describing this book as like 'a strong blue cheese'. You'll have to tune in tomorrow to find out more!!

Also this was recorded in September last year so if it sounds like we have too much joy and hope for humanity in our voices then that might explain it.

Just started listening and Rosemary MacCabe also got her book free with a magazine, glad to know I wasn't misremembering that magazines used to include free stuff back in the day. Not necessarily good stuff but hey, free 😀

New episode tomorrow with the superb Rosemary McCabe, and it's a good one as we encounter possibly the worst book that Áine and I have ever encountered.... Venus Envy by Louise Mensch (neé Bagshawe).
