Focus stacking is similar in that it’s a way of overcoming the limited depth-of-field you get with miniature photography. I don’t know if it would work for making a whole miniature scene look real though—I’ve only seen it used for a single subject, like a miniature or an insect.

In general, the goal is to try and get more of the foreground and background to be in focus. One approach is you reduce the aperture (larger f-stop number) to increase the depth of field. Another approach is to move back from the subject and then crop down. Both of these have their limits though.

That’s a cool idea! I’ve used a plain old tray for carrying my armies around between games and never thought to turn it into something more.

I’ll have to give this a try. I’ve used Liquitex Matte Varnish, but haven’t been completely happy with the result—the finish seemed more satin than matte to me.

⚠️ Mixing demon water with holy water results in the mutual annihilation of these substances and an explosive release of energy. This will void the warranty on most miniature figures.

This is my first time coming across your pics. Your 6mm armies look great spread out on the table! The sashimono* especially add a lot of color.

*Hopefully that’s the right term. I haven’t done much medieval Japanese gaming.

The only question this raises for me is “why hadn't I blocked Sally Jenkins before today?”

These guys look fantastic. You nailed the LotR vibe. This is very much how orcs look in my imagination.

Love this! Captures the look perfectly. And the skeletons rising up add a really nice touch!

Medicare doesn’t require a referral to see a specialist*. So the idea that a government-run program would necessarily require referrals is just wrong.

*True for basic Medicare Part B, with or without a supplement plan. Medicare Advantage rules vary across the (privately operated) plans.

I thought Children of Men was amazing. But there were two scenes that absolutely destroyed me and I don’t know if I could watch it again.

I suppose this closed off any opportunity for giant, flightless bats. I’m undecided on whether that’s a good thing or not.

The Witch King, Lord of the Nazgûl, riding a fell beast.

A kit-bashed figure created years ago, part of a 6mm LotR army.

I’ve come to really appreciate Terry Pratchett writing characters just being kind to one another. I read Feet of Clay recently, and, yeah.

Is this profoundly dispiriting for the Federal agents? Because I hope this is profoundly dispiriting for the Federal agents.
Incredible video from Reddit (too large to upload the screencap). CBP agents attempt to detain a flower vendor and end up getting chased into a vacant lot by a crowd of teenagers. What a bunch of impotent sad sacks.

I don’t know what it’s like to treat every interaction in my life as a transaction. But it certainly appears that that’s how Trump functions. So much so that he even assumes that everyone else does the same, only we lie and pretend we don’t. It’s like he can’t conceive of operating any other way.

The Players fit right in…

[W]e can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.

Thanks, that’s oddly reassuring. Not that it isn’t incredibly dumb, but a dumb bit is better than discovering that a human being would do this in earnest.

Note that it isn’t just ICE committing these crimes. In this case it’s Border Patrol. Know your enemy!
