the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you

To keep things simple and have to not completely redo textures the head/body/tail are not atlased together. They still have their original atlases and separate materials.

Tedious but definitely not impossible. This is a Cervitaur head on a Shinra body. The most difficult part for me was the fact that between the two skeletons, the bones had a different starting direction, so I had to work that out. Otherwise it was just making sure there was no gap in the neck.
